A Livestream Chat Tomorrow with Philosopher Joshua Matthan Brown about Animals in the Restoration of All Things and a Recent Conversation with Dr. Jordan Daniel Wood
First, as a preliminary note, I want to share that my friend Ambrose recently had a conversation with the theologian Dr. Jordan Daniel Wood titled “Christian Afterlife Beliefs” that I commend to you:
Also, philosopher and Orthodox Christian seminarian Joshua Matthan Brown has invited me to chat with him tomorrow about a recent book chapter of mine on the topic of animals and the restoration of all things. (Find that book here.) Another philosopher, Jeremiah Carey (to whom I dedicated my book chapter), was planning to join us but may not be able to. Hopefully that will work out another time. Here is the link to the conversation that Joshua and I ended up recording together:
“It is not in a part of human nature that the image of God is found, but nature in its totality is the image of God.” —Saint Gregory of Nyssa (On the Creation of Man)
“Having thus united us with Himself and Himself with us, and having become one with us in all things, He makes His own all that is ours…. Thus all creation becomes one body, all are grafted one upon the other, and Christ speaks of the submission of His body to the Father as His own submission.” —Saint Gregory of Nyssa (In Illud)
“For when he considers the universe, can anyone be so simple minded as not to believe that the Divine is present in everything, pervading, embracing and penetrating it?“ —Saint Gregory of Nyssa (Address on Religious Instruction)
