One of these years, I am going to write a “free essay” outside of the paywall here for every one of the twelve days of Christmas, but that was not this year. (And whenever I do manage this, may God help the poor souls who actually read the last few.) For this year, however, Christmas is now long over, and I’m a little behind on my basic commitments to subscribers here. I’ll be getting back on track quickly in coming weeks with my Sergei Bulgakov reading reflections as well as with a regular essay (or two) per month on other topics. I’ve recently heard a rumor that a chapter that I contributed to a book some time back (with my chapter being on the topic of animals in the kingdom of God) now has a foreword for this book being written by David Bentley Hart as one of the final steps before the book is published. So stay tuned, dear readers, for that announcement at some point. For now, here is a brief reflection about how our fallen and fragmented creation remains, in the death of Christ, an icon of God’s perfect wholeness and unity.
